Do you have trouble hooping big items to stitch directly on apparel? How about the first time stitching on a Carhart Jacket – heavy, awkward and easy to make mistakes. Consider using custom embroidered patch designs instead.
I have the solution for every hooping worry – make a patch!
I spent the last 20 years making patches – thousands of patches – in a huge patch production at home – 5 multineedle machines, the fabric secrets and a merrow machine to make perfect custom embroidered patch designs.
I learned a lot about digitizing, special effects and the best balance for patches. I loved my job and it was wonderful to have an income where I could be home for my kids after school. It was awesome.
I miss it every day. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I had to shut the company down. It was a sad, sad day for me. I still have all the machines, I just can’t part with the machines yet.
I thought it would be fulfilling for me to bring in my love for creating patches into OML Embroidery, and sew far, sew good! I love the creation process of designing custom embroidered patch designs and making them look good. There are a lot of digitizing secrets to make a patch look great. For example small lettering, which is tricky on any fabric, but even more difficult on patches. I was so good at small patches, I was able to create “pencil patches” that were 1inch by 2 inch with writing and possibly an icon too. Now that’s small.
One of the main things that I enjoyed was letting my sense of humor show through in my patch designs. I had a special section on the website for “adult” patches that were absolutely hilarious – and very popular. The customers really enjoyed that I would put anything on a patch for them. I was one of the first companies to do that. I also did not have a minimum order, so they did not have to purchase 100 of the patches. If they wanted one patch they could order one, specify the background and even the thread colors. They absolutely loved that freedom.
I am happy to make custom embroidered patch designs again. It makes me smile. I hope you all enjoy stitching funny patches. You can put them wherever you want a patch or design.
In the next few days and weeks I will be giving more tips and tricks for patches. I did a video last weekend with many secrets to get a great patch. I will blog about the best way to attach a patch. I will explain how to place your patch correctly. I will also share tips to avoid damaging your clothing. You can also put patches on hats at the back, on the front and even on the brim.
There are so many ways to work with patches, I hope you will all check the new patches out and get stitching and have some patch fun!
Here are some of the new patches I designed this week. I kept the price low so that, hopefully, more people can purchase a patch or two. Once you stitch out a patch, you will want more and more. Trust me on that one, LOL.
Here is the first video showing you all about fabric preparation for patches.
and here are links to some of the new patches!
