Folded fabric in all the right places makes this block look FANTASTIC!  Take four blocks and stitch them together, and you have one large star block!  Add more large star blocks, and you have a lap quilt or a large quilt – it’s that easy.  This design would be perfect for a fat quarter bundle with dark, light, and medium shades or prints.  You can give this star a 3D look by using dark thread for the cover stitches and light and dark fabric for the main pieces of the star.  When you put four large blocks together, there will be another block forming in the middle – what a pleasant surprise!

You don’t have to assemble the blocks in sets of 4 – you can create a wave pattern across the quilt and rotate them the other way for the second row.

Skill Level:  Beginner applique friendly, familiar with folded fabric.

Sewing:  basic sewing blocks together and finishing the quilt or wall hanging.
