QUILT PLAN:  the circle clamshell blocks can be turned to form a different pattern.  Check out the negative spaces between blocks – you can form another clamshell or a circle from the background fabric. 😊

SKILL LEVEL:  beginner to applique master!

IDEAS:  this can be a scrappy quilt with all different patterns and colors.  You can use a black or white background to make the clamshells stand out.  You could also try different fabrics with the same thread color for the satin stitches, which will draw your eye to the shapes.  You could also fussy cut for the center circle (think flowers or cute kids’ patterns that fit into the circle – anything goes) or pick a theme!  Halloween colors and fabric look amazing with the clamshells – and don’t forget about Christmas.

If you use a solid fabric for the clamshell or the center circle, try using variegated thread for the quilting stitches!  Once you have your fabric picked out, let’s get stitching!!
